Humour,  Personal

Adieu ‘X-Man’

Who wants to face a high-headed, angry and complaining person, first thing in the morning? I guess No one!

But we, the commuters of common route and destination, daily lived an adventure of our life i.e. to catch our ever slipping bus on time! Above that Mr Driver was never happy with our performance; he was always looking for more, always complaining straight on our face and we the suffering souls would sheepishly look for a vacant seat as a hideout.

He would mumble something in a strange lingo and accelerate…. This was our daily routine until… one odd day, his seat was taken by a similar looking but altogether different (I mean) patient guy. He was so composed and would wait for every late-comer without a fold-on-his-forehead. Ambience of our bus was nothing less than paradise itself! Everyone was envious of the commuters of his ‘original bus’ and wished to have him forever. Luckily we enjoyed this ‘cool breeze’ for three full days and were not at all ready to welcome our old ‘grumpy man’.

But what a relief it was to see the same guy again, the next morning. All were whispering about the where-about of the ‘Mr Cranky’. While boarding off the bus, the ‘X-man’, himself came and declared very happily about his switching of the bus due to some personal reason. The commuters were happily sad however the feeling of relief was hard to conceal.

So, this new cool guy was so good at waiting that our bus would daily make it late to the campus. Moreover he was finding it really hard to control our equally ‘long-in-the-tooth’ bus and we were on our guards, all the time, holding our tummies tight.

Lo! Here comes a speed breaker! Aaah…! Is everyone fine?

He would pick-up race and then apply sudden breaks leading to bangs here and there. The commuters started to get irritated and suddenly the ‘cool breeze’ started to appear ‘cold’ turning in to ‘freezing hurricane’. He even preponed the timing of the bus and now everybody would stand at their respective bus stop half-an-hour earlier!

The ‘cool spell’ was rather short-lived and we, the commuters were badly missing our ‘old grumpy fellow’. He was rude, straight-forward but he had great control over his vehicle. We never realized, the bus was too old; the road contained so many speed-breakers and on our journey back home, we used to sleep like babies…such was his expertise! Some of us even dared to ask for his comeback but he had made up his mind.

No matter how much we think about the smooth speedy ‘Past’, X-man’s never gonna come back and we have to make peace with the jerky ‘Present’ with some Ahs and ouches….

Rightly said: You never know how important something is, until you almost lost it.
