Something Called ‘Joint-Family’

Once upon a time there used to be a family called “Joint-Family”. Many people lived in a single home which was blessed to have 4-5 generation at a time. The doors of that home were ever wide open due to the eternal presence as the eldest members who would shower the youngsters with their selfless love and undoubtedly get more love and care, in return. Love and respect was omnipresent. The decisions made by “the head” of the family were thought to be final and no one would ever raise his/her voice against that.

If there were two adult males, one was sure to take care of the paternal land and the other was allowed to go places to earn living. So this means that a harmony in the actions of two was indispensable and thankfully it was there. The ‘Rover’ would make sure that his fat family stays up-to-date with the social trends and the ‘homer’ was responsible for satisfying their tummies. Their children enjoyed the equal rights and perks. No female was worried about her child’s health, education and marriage, as this was well taken care of, on a collective ground.

Everything used to be so ‘in place’ until the curse like jealousy crept into some weak minded member of the family. It changed the entire picture. The wives of two peers started having the rifts based on who is the real ‘Bread-earner’ of the family. The Eldest would sometimes succeed in pacifying them but not for long. These clashes kept on intensifying and went out of control. Even those ‘so called’ noble bread earners, felt helpless and the entire thing ended in the formation of a new type of family called “Nuclear family”.

Each and every thing was distributed amongst them. Here, one would witness the lowest level a person could go to. What about those ‘Trees’ who gave them shade, throughout their life? It was really hard for them to see everything falling apart in front of their eyes. Their bodies were stonified. The day when nuclear family was born, was the day of the death of ‘faith’; the faith in togetherness, the faith in harmony, the faith in tradition and above all the faith in one’s own creation.

No wonder Modern World is fast inclining towards the trend of ‘Nuclear families’ as there are many ‘perks’ of it. No limitations and full freedom. Moreover, you don’t have to kill your desires just because someone else doesn’t think they are worth. The temporary head of the family has all the liberty to design his life without any ifs and buts.

But how much aware are we, of the ‘perils’ of this nuclear family trend? This is for you to think and share….
